I’m always on the lookout for something to put on my toast. Ages ago, long before I became a vegetarian, I bought hamp seeds. I had totally forgotten about them inside the kitchen cupboard until I found the package yesterday. After a little google search I found out that I could use hamp seeds in just about everything. Which is a good thing because they’re so darn healthy! They’re packed with all nine of the essential amino acids, magnesium, iron, vitamin E and zink. So sprinkle that stuff as much as you can! And no, eating hemp seeds will not get you high like a kite. I decided to make a hamp seed pesto since I also have a basilica that can be used in that recipe.
3 cups fresh basil leaves
2-3 cloves garlic
100 gr/ 1 dl hamp seeds
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
50 ml extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
Put all the ingredients in a food processor and process until smooth. You can use the pesto on pizzas, sandwiches, in pasta, etc.

Now I know I’m not inventing the wheel here, but as a vegetarian rookie it was only a matter of time before I tried this one! Like so many recipes there are thousand of various versions of blackbean-brownies to be found on the internet. I browsed through many of them and combined what I liked the most.
I’ve been meaning to make dahl for a while now. If I remember correctly it’s one of the first pure vegan courses that I tasted (many many years ago), at a restaurant called Á næstu grösum, that still operates in Reykjavík (in case you visit Iceland one day). There are various versions of dahl recipes to be found on the internet, but I decided to use red lentils as a main ingredient and kind of mixed various recipes together. So here it goes
